Recently I had an Attorney who uses the FTR Player to listen to his clients court appearences call me because they had recently downloaded and installed the latest FTR Player software but when they attempting to play back the recording with TheRecord Player, an error message indicates that the MediaLooks license has expired.
After doing some trouble shooting and running a reinstall of TheRecord Player software was able to find the issue. As it turns out that the TheRecord Player 5.3 or above, must be installed when logged on as a member of the local administrators group or on a non networked machine must use an administrator account with full permissions, Otherwise the following error message will be displayed. “An error occurred while attempting to start playback. Reload content and try again (0×800004040).”
After doing some digging on the FTR Community http://www.community.fortherecord.com/index.php?/index I found the following solution to this issue. I hope this helps anyone out there that is having the same problem.
